How do I hook up my laptop to my HDtv with audio?
So ever since I got my HDtv I’ve wanted to hook my laptop up to it. I was just going to get a DVI cable and hook that up, then I remembered how shitty laptop speakers are.
I have a Vizio HDtv LCD VOJ370F (1A)
and my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1721.
I’m not sure if this information is needed or not, but maybe helpful.

If your laptop has HDMI, then use that. But if it doesn’t…
Just go to Radioshack, and ask for a 1/8 inch headphone plug to 2 RCA male. Or just go to this link:

That’s the cable you need, you can get it in varying lengths, not just 3 feet. You can probably get it at other stores, but you always run the risk of having an employee not have any clue what you need. You’ll just plug the headphone plug into your laptop headphone jack, then you can plug the two RCA plugs into your TV’s audio input. Or if you have a stereo or a surround sound with the same inputs, plug it into there.
